DIGITAL ALUMNI OFFERS NEW SERVICE TO MEMBERS

The Digital Alumni has recently established a new, real-time virtual career service through a new organization called Alumwire and it is available to any Digital Alumni seeking a new career move and any organization seeking to fill positions.

Alumwire was established by Aaron and Alan Sahagun - one at University of California – Berkeley and the other at Harvard. These two entrepreneurs were featured in BusinessWeek as "Top 25 American Entrepreneurs Under 25". Alumwire is an interactive network for students and alumni to find jobs, internships and other employment opportunities through the patent-pending, virtual, on-line recruiting fairs. Alumwire provides job seekers with professional networks, communications tools, forums, events and other services in assisting job seekers locate desired positions.

This new service is expanding rapidly and represents a 21st century approach to job search and hiring. Colleges and universities are using Alumwire to enhance their career placement services for recent graduates as well as their alumni and corporate alumni organizations, like The Digital Alumni, offer these services to their members when they are seeking new positions. Corporations are rapidly joining Alumwire as a ready access to talent in a more cost effective way from college, university and general talent markets.

Alumwire can be accessed through the URL www.alumwire.com. The DEC Alumni access code is DEC1957.

If you represent an employer, register through the "Register as an Employer" button. If you are a job seeker, register through the "Register as a Job Seeker" button. The website will guide you through the process from there.

This is a very exciting new development within the recruiting and placement field. Because it is a new service, there will undoubtedly be upgrades, enhancements and adjustments made as it grows in use. The Digital Alumni is pleased to be one of the first corporate alumni groups to offer this service.

We urge all Digital alumni who may be seeking a new position to give this new service a try. It is no cost to the job seeker. If you know of others who may be seeking a new position, have them use this service. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!

If you are an employer seeking new employees, we urge you to give this service a try. It is definitely a more hands-on, direct contact system than we have seen and is clearly less costly than any recruiting tool we know. It seems to us that there is a real advantage to the chat portion of the service that will save time and money in the long haul as a screening process to find the most compatible candidates without undue travel and interview costs.

We welcome feedback from any Digital Alumni who use this service. It is through feedback that the system developers can make continuous improvements to better serve their customers.
